Ione Real Estate & Homes For Sale

Browse the newest Ione homes for sale & real estate listings in Amador County, CA below! Nicknamed "Castle City" because of the mesmerizing Preston Castle that was built on a hill overlooking the city, it seems almost everybody out here is at least somewhat familiar with the city of Ione. Designated a national historic landmark for obvious reasons, Preston Castle is a Romanesque Revival work of art that was originally created all the way back in 1890 to serve as an academic center for juveniles who were referred by the local and regional courts. As of 2016, however, Preston Castle, which was originally known as The Preston School of Industry, has continued to sit empty for years.

Ione Real Estate

While downtown Ione might feel like it's full of life, outside of town awaits a quiet rural setting that's full of rolling hills and beautiful countryside as far as the eye can see. Large homes that include lots of property certainly aren't uncommon on the Ione real estate market, while traditional suburban houses in traditional suburban-like neighborhoods are also plentiful all throughout the community. Typical two-story houses that sit on quarter or half acre lots generally top out around $600,000, but some of Ione's most expensive properties have been known to exceed $2 million.

Living in Ione CA

As for the rest of Ione, the vibrant and historic downtown that's filled with shops, restaurants, and cafes continues to attract new visitors to the area, while the city's highly-ranked schools, unbelievable outdoor recreational amenities, and overall exceptional public safety systems are what catches the attention of most new home buyers considering a move to the area.

Ione didn't officially incorporate until 1953, still making it a relatively young town compared to other cities in Amador County. Across its 4.7 square miles, recent population statistics show that just over 7,700 people call Ione home, with that number undoubtedly growing each and every year.
